Building Inspector / Plan Reviewer

As a Building Inspector/Plan reviewer some of your tasks/responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Examines proposed residential and commercial construction plans submitted for permit approval; examines all types of building plans for integrity as detailed and required by the Florida Building Code and all other applicable standards and regulations.
  • Approves or disapproves proposed plans in accordance with code and other regulatory requirements and discusses disapproved items with architects, engineers, contractors and/or owner builders to obtain plan changes necessary for approval.
  • Examines proposed PLUMBING residential and commercial construction plans submitted for permit approval; examines all types of building plans for integrity as detailed and required by the Florida Building Code and all other applicable standards and regulations.
  • Approves or disapproves proposed plans in accordance with code and other regulatory requirements and discusses disapproved items with architects, engineers, contractors and/or owner builders to obtain plan changes necessary for approval
  • Evaluates proposed alternate methods and materials against code requirements.
  • Evaluates requests for product approvals; ascertains by field visits that manufactured products used in construction meet specifications of the original product approval.
  • Reviews necessary shop drawings and field tests, soil reports and special supervision of construction as required to complete plans processing work.
  • Answers technical questions concerning the Florida Building Code.
  • Coordinates plans examining for compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Communicate and interact with project team members, client representatives, review agencies and others as appropriate to project.
  • Assist in any inspections or project management duties as necessary.
Electrical Inspector / Plan Reviewer

As an Electrical Plan Reviewer/ Inspector some of your tasks/responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Technical Responsibilities:

  • This is skilled inspections and enforcement work to ensure compliance with the Florida Building Codes, Miami Dade County Codes and other applicable codes and regulations as it relates to installation, operations and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Work involves the responsibility for inspecting a variety of electrical installations to determine whether plans, workmanship and materials conform to legally established requirements.
  • Inspects residential, commercial and industrial electrical installations and equipment in new and old buildings for compliance with provisions of the Florida Building Code and Miami Dade County Codes. Issues notices to persons involved where electrical installations are found to be defective; makes recommendation on correct methods of installation.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Performing Required Structural Checks, as well as interpret and revise engineering drawings.

Plans Coordinator
  • Coordinates and expedites flow of plans, and assemblies between sections or departments, according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities, and compiles and maintains manual or computerized records.
  • Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track material.
  • Verify the work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications; ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
  • Performs work associated with the coordination and inspection of construction projects ensuring projects meet construction guidelines and conform to company standards and specifications. This position oversees the work of plan reviewers and coordinates with external vendors and/or government entities as needed to complete construction projects.
  • Manage office staff to assure proper processing of compliance paperwork is delivered in a timely manner, in order to obtain building permits and inspection services. Ensuring that the construction review and inspections are following the terms and specifications of the project.
  • Work with Design Team in the development of permitting and construction plans. Proactive involvement in recognizing and resolving issues during permitting, design and construction phases.
  • Working directly with architects, contractors and customers as well as company personnel. Responsibility for on time and within budget project completion.
  • Management of project development for multiple complex projects. Focusing on meeting project commitments, including communications with design team, contractors and ownership.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a broad, coordinated set of plans and programs to meet the goals and priorities of the client.
  • Coordinate receipt and accuracy of all pertinent private provider forms such as Hold Harmless, Notice to building Official and Affidavits for multiple municipalities for both Master and Phase permits as a document control specialist.
  • Prepare plans and affidavits signed and sealed by engineers for Expediting.
  • Provide office support and updates to Expeditors while also assisting in the permit process.
  • Monitor status of plan reviews for Structural, Building, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing.
  • Monitor and process the responses to comments and revisions submitted to assure plans are returned in a timely manner.
  • Provide customer service to ownership and their representatives informing them on status of the project review and preparation of the master set.
  • Provide record keeping of Shop Drawings and job site sets for inspections.
  • Coordinate with PM’s for plans and important documents on deadlines for permitting and CO’s.
Plumbing Inspector / Plan Reviewer

Project Manager

As a Project Manager some of your tasks/responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Plan meetings.
  • Organize project logistics.
  • Maintain records.
  • Interface with clients.
  • Attend client meetings and assist with determination of project requirements.
  • Assist in the drafting and issuance of project proposals, RFP’s.
  • Track & manage all logs.
  • Maintain project documentation in project management software.
  • Able to read plans to assist Director of Operations accordingly.
  • Working closely with Director of Operations.
  • Communicate with Subcontractors.
  • Creates and develops the objectives/goals of each, and assigns individual responsibilities.
  • Conducts periodic inspection of construction sites.
  • Leads and communicates with project members, to assist them in working to the Project Schedule.
  • Represents Ortus with owners, architects, consultants, government authorities, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Produces an accurate percent complete projection to support management process.
  • Ensures a Permit Log is developed, the permit process is tracked, and all required permits from the various governmental agencies are secured.
  • Ensures that the document control processes for all addenda, ASI s and Drawing Revisions are kept up to date.
  • Reviews the quality assurance/quality control program of the project.
  • Makes certain that all close-out documents are obtained, assembled, distributed, and files all as-built drawings, warranties, certificates of occupancy, and final lien releases for the project.
